1.

For x≥0, a differentiable function y with 0<y<10<y<1 satisfies dy/dx=4xy2(1−y)/(1+2x2)dy/dx=4xy^2(1-y)/(1+2x^2) and y(0)=1/2.

(a)

Find an implicit equation relating x and y.

(5)

(b)

Find the positive x-coordinate at which y=2/3, giving an exact answer.

(2)

(c)

Explain why the implicit equation gives exactly one value of y in (0,1) for each finite x≥0.

(2)

(Total for Question 1 is 9 marks)
